FREQUENT QUESTIONS
Q. How do I prepare for a treatment?
Wear light, loose clothing that is easily removed if
necessary. Try to avoid eating a large meal beforehand.
If you are on medication it is useful if you can write
it down or bring a copy of your prescription. Be prepared
to talk about your medical history. It might help if
you have a long history to make a list. Although you
will be safe to drive afterwards it is not unusual for
you to feel more relaxed and perhaps a bit spaced out.
Therefore try not to schedule a demanding timetable
for yourself straight after the treatment if that is
at all possible. Sometimes it is good to have a quiet
time to yourself afterwards.
Q. What is a pulse diagnosis?
Taking the pulses includes 3 positions on each wrist,
each relating to a different area. It is not just the
speed but the overall quality which is detected. This
gives valuable clues to your wellbeing unrelated to
any audible questioning and is a vital component of
diagnosis.
Q. How safe are the treatments?
I observe the British acupuncture Council (BAcC) code
of practice approved by the department of health with
whom I am a registered practitioner. To protect against
infection needles are sterile and used once only. I
am on the register of Chinese herbal medicine (RCHM)
ensuring vigilant quality control of herbs from approved
suppliers.
Q. Should you tell your Doctor?
It is sensible to tell your Doctor of any other treatment
you are having.
Q. How much does it cost?
£40 per session. If herbs are administered they
cost £25 for approximaitely 3 and a half weeks.
Facial Revitalisation is £45. Included in the
cost is therapeutic/acupressure massage, acupuncture,
herbal consultation and lifestyle advice. Not included
are the cost of the herbs (charged separately). If sessions
are pre-booked and paid for in advance discounts are
available. If you are interested please discuss with
me on the first consultation.
N.B. Home Visits can be arranged if necessary.
If you live within Edinburgh City the cost for this
would be £45
Q. How long does a treatment session last?
Allow a full hour.
Q.What if I need to cancel an appointment?
Please allow 24hrs notice for a cancellation. As I have
overheads to pay for whether you are there or not I
would appreciate your consideration of this in the event
of you having to cancel at short notice. A standard
fee of £20 should cover the costs and loss of
earnings for that hour.
